Community Grants

Community Grants Programme

Apply for funding for projects in the borough

Residents can apply for grants as the council looks to give a boost to dedicated voluntary and community groups in Kingston.

The Neighbourhood Community Grants Programme is now open allowing community and voluntary sector groups to apply for funding for projects in their neighbourhood or throughout the borough.

Applications can be submitted throughout the year, rather than groups needing to apply by a specific deadline.

The money is aimed at supporting voluntary, community, not-for-profit and faith groups in Kingston to set up new and accessible activities or projects that benefit residents and make a difference to the local community.

The funding for the Community Grants Programme is broken down into these categories:

  • Neighbourhood Community Grants of up to £3,000 per application for projects in each of the four neighbourhoods - Surbiton, South of the Borough, Kingston Town and Maldens & Coombe.
  • Borough-wide Community Grants (opening in early 2021) of up to £3,000 for projects that benefit residents and businesses across Kingston.
  • Community Infrastructure Levy, for projects that help residents as we grow as a borough. This includes community gardens, children's play spaces, tree planting, baby changing facilities, boroughwide bulb planting by residents, public artwork and the installation of defibrillators.

Each of the council's Neighbourhood Committees also have access to Councillor Ward Funding grants available for local projects within the neighbourhood.

Applications can be submitted throughout the year, starting in May. Expressions of interest are welcome now. If you are interested in applying for any of these grants, or would like more information, email grants@kingston.gov.uk and Neighbourhood Managers can advise on which grant may be best for your project.
