Community Hubs Grants

Apply for funding for projects in Community Hubs

The Community Hub Grants opens on the 2nd September 2024, allowing residents to apply for funding for projects in one or more of our Community Hubs, located in libraries and other community spaces across the borough.

Applicants may request between £100 and £500 to be used towards supplies needed to deliver a proposed project. This grant cannot be used towards salaries or general service fees. If your project does not require funding, you may contact the community hubs directly to use the space for FREE.

These hubs include, but are not limited to:

Applications can be submitted throughout the year and will be reviewed on a monthly basis.

The grant is aimed at supporting grass-roots individuals or groups in Kingston to set up new and accessible activities or projects that benefit residents and make a difference to the local community.

We welcome projects or activities that:

  • Provide a space to share special interests (i.e. knitting, chess)

  • Offer an opportunity for learning or skill transfer (i.e. creative writing, language)

  • Engage people in accessible activities (i.e. singing, crafts)

Projects will be prioritised if they meet the following:

  • Identify a gap in the current local offer for community projects or activities

  • Highlight a clear benefit for community engagement

  • Demonstrate enthusiasm to sustain the project consistently and with longevity

Who can apply

Eligible applicants are:

  • Individual applicants

  • Voluntary or community sector groups

Application process

We will assess your application, if your application is not complete, we will send this back to you and give you five working days to provide any missing information. We may also contact you for further clarification.

Notification of decision

The Council aims to inform applicants of the decision outcome on a rolling basis. If the Council offers your organisation a grant, it will be conditional on you signing the offer letter and accepting the terms and conditions of the grant. If your application is unsuccessful the relevant Council Officer may be able to provide you feedback, upon request, as to why it was unsuccessful.

Receiving funding once awarded

For successful applicants:

  • If you are a community and voluntary sector group, the awarded funding will be paid to an organisational bank account to purchase the agreed supplies

  • If you are an individual, the awarded funding will be used to purchase the agreed supplies on your behalf and will be stored in the community hub as Council property
