Active Kingston card
About the scheme
The Active Kingston Card entitles you to receive up to 50 per cent discount on a wide range of leisure activities in Kingston.
To be eligible for the card, you must be a resident of the borough and be any one of the following:
- aged at the UK state retirement age and above
- in receipt of Income Related Support Allowance (ESA)
- in receipt of Universal Credit or Income Support as unemployed
- in receipt of Carers’ Allowance
- registered as an adult Carers with the Kingston Carers’ Network
- young carers registered with the Kingston Carers Network
- registered disabled and receiving Universal credit or Disability Benefit
- in receipt of Pension Credits
- asylum Seekers and refugees holding a permit card with settlement status
Due to changes in the benefit system, this criteria will be subject to change.
Conditions
There are some condition which would need to be followed.
- you can only use the facilities if they are available
- your Active Kingston Card is valid for one year unless you no longer qualify
- if your circumstances change you must tell the centre where you are registered, or Active Kingston, immediately
- the card is not transferable
How to apply
The card application forms are available from the scheme centres and libraries in the borough, or can be downloaded.
Complete the form and return to one of the scheme centres, along with two passport sized photgraphs, proof of residency and eligibility.

Proof of residency
You will need to produce proof of residency, for example:
- utility bill (less than two months old)
- Council Tax bill
Proof of eligibility
Evidence required for the above concessions:
- Universal credit payment page showing benefit type
- Housing benefit letter
- Working Tax Credit or Income Support payment letter
- Income support letter
- Pension credit letter
- Freedom pass with valid date and showing retirement age reached
- Disability Living Allowance
- Disability Personal Independent payment letter
- Employment & Support allowance letter
- Application registration card Asylum Seekers
- Residence permit card with refugee settlement status
The staff at your preferred leisure centre will check your documents and return them to you immediately. Please note that bank statements must be current no more than 2 months old.
