New council homes for Kingston
FAQs
Will trees be cut down to make way for these new homes?
Although some trees will be removed to make way for the building site, a majority of these will be low grade trees, with surveys being carried out. Countryside are planting at least as many trees as are being taken away at each of the four sites.
I am a resident at one of these sites. Will I still be able to park during the construction?
Due to the construction of these much-needed affordable housing, parking will be temporarily unavailable on specific areas of the four sites. Residents have been informed in advance by a letter, as well as reminders posted in the area and on cars found in said areas and through a series of newsletters. The cooperation of residents in this matter is much appreciated.
Construction workers will be encouraged to share cars and use public transport and strongly discouraged from parking within the wider estate. Countryside will monitor this by taking registration numbers of workers’ cars and monitoring the locality to ensure they are not parking there.
Who are these new homes for?
All 101 of these new homes will make up part of the Council’s housing stock, and will be allocated to residents on the Council’s Housing Register. Priority will be given to those in the greatest housing need.
I have read through these FAQs but I still have concerns about this development near my home. How can I get in touch?
If residents have feedback, questions or concerns, they can do this through Countryside’s Community Liaison Officer, or through their Housing Officer.
