  • A message from Councillor Diane White on the return to schools

The government has outlined steps that need to be taken to ensure that all of our pupils and teachers are safe - at a time when our highest Covid rates in Kingston continue to be amongst older secondary pupils.... Using more sustainable ways of getting around our beautiful borough is one of the many ways we can make an individual difference and help to tackle climate change.... Thank you to all of our schools and their incredible staff for all of their hard work in preparing for the new year.

  • Kingston Council working with ShopAppy to help local businesses trade online

We’ll be launching ShopAppy.com for all our main town centres and high streets in early February, with localised landing pages for each of our local high streets and town centres.... Our high streets are losing physical spend to online and this has massively been accelerated by COVID-19.... Our business survey early in the crisis indicated that almost half of respondents weren’t able to trade online - we need to help change that.

  • Investment in public transport and active travel is needed in wake of Mayor's expansion of ULEZ

The Mayor of London has not listened to what we at Kingston Council, our residents and our businesses have said.... Kingston is committed to improving air quality and encouraging sustainable travel, but bus and train links in outer London boroughs like ours are not good enough for our residents to rely on, and funding for investment in active travel has been cut.... Rushing to expand the ULEZ could leave some of our residents and businesses struggling to cope in the midst of a cost of living crisis.
