    I should point out that nowadays the members regard the “I” to stand for Independent and they guard that independence with a passion!...     Designation summary The special architectural and historic interest of this area can be summarised as: A planned estate of roads laid out in the 1850s by the National Freehold Land Society, an early building society dedicated to voting reform, with plots developed in an individual and piecemeal fashion throughout the 19th & 20th centuries.... It was the first part of New Malden Town Centre to be laid out and includes Acacia, Chestnut, Elm, Lime, Poplar and Sycamore Road which were all planted with trees to match their names.

  • White Ribbon Day - let’s #ChangetheStory for women and girls

    Kingston Council has been working hard to raise awareness of actions we can all take to challenge unacceptable behaviours through initiatives such as its active bystander training, which highlights the role everyone can play in calling out violent or unacceptable behaviour.... At the South West London Safer Streets conference earlier this year the borough launched its Women’s Night Safety Charter to support women to feel safer when out in the borough in the evening.
