  • Natural Inks Workshop

  • Lyndsay Russell

Employing the wind and natural rhythm of the boat to move inks, oils and paints across containers of river water, the artist captured the random patterns generated by the water’s motion in photography or film.... Noticing the way in which these watery dynamics mirror the forces found in space - and the curiosity, that in reproducing the water she also manifests the gravity-wave oscillations of the universe through the media of ink, oil, paint, sunlight and LED lighting - Russell titled one series ‘Aqua Nebulae’.

  • Creative Flow with the Curator

I’d like to thank the artists Alexander Beer, Lyndsay Russell, Cecilia Liu, Louise Anderson, Jane Cradock-Watson and Thomas Pausz for allowing us to include their works - for bringing their ideas and energy to the show - and for enabling us to chart the story from the historic legacy right up to the present - all the way from the simple pen and ink drawing up to the digital present.
