    Councillor Margaret Thompson, who served as Kingston’s Mayor from May 2019 until April 2021, has handed over the £19,853 raised during her tenure for the Mayor’s Charitable Trust.... The COVID-19 pandemic made fundraising particularly challenging, and I would like to thank all those who supported the charities in any way.... Cllr Thompson was succeeded by Councillor Sushila Abraham, who became the 186th Mayor of Kingston in May of this year.

    In addition, funding will also be given to projects supporting those who are bereaved and combating isolation and building mental health and wellbeing support for men.... Every phase of this fund has been oversubscribed and we are grateful to everyone who worked hard to submit an application....   • Kingston pilots new regional flooding exercise to help manage the impacts of climate change

    This is part of a wider piece of work by Kingston Council’s Resilience Planning Team who recently commissioned the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) to complete an Open Water Safety Assessment of the riverside in Kingston.... Last year, Kingston Council installed lifelines under Kingston’s Bridges to help anyone who gets in trouble in the water.... The lifelines have been placed around the base of the arches of the bridges providing anyone who accidentally ends up in the water with something to grab hold of.
