  • King Charles Road becomes Kingston’s first permanent Low Traffic Neighbourhood

    Since its implementation there has been encouraging traffic reductions on nearly all monitored roads in and around the LTN, including a 80% reduction on the southern section of King Charles Road, a 70% decrease on Derby Road and between a 19-33% reduction in traffic levels on Ewell Road (all traffic levels compared to pre-COVID levels).... During the trial period we have seen some really encouraging results with clear evidence of a range of improvements in the area, including a significant increase in active travel and traffic reductions on nearly all monitored roads in and around the scheme. ... We will also be creating a traffic master plan for the Berrylands area, along with continued monitoring in and around the scheme to ensure all of our residents reap the full benefits of our first permanent LTN.

  • Kingston community grants fund 1,440 meals for families across the borough

    All four of Kingston’s neighbourhood committees have come together to fund 1,440 meal kits for families in need, following an application by Voices of Hope, a local charity.... Each box has all the ingredients and a printed recipe guide with photos and step-by-step information.... I am delighted that all four neighbourhood committees have used community grant funding to help Voices of Hope continue and expand the meaningful, important work they do.

We will no longer offer deeds of variation in respect of windows and doors in order to ensure that blocks remain uniform in appearance and meet fire safety standards, to enable us to recover all the costs and to avoid maintenance risks to blocks if leaseholders choose not to replace their windows and doors.
