  • Kingston supports calls for improvements to the Healthy Start scheme for families and mums-to-be.

    The NHS Healthy Start card provides money to low-income mums-to-be and families with children of 4 and under specifically for healthy food, milk, baby formula and free vitamins.... In addition, the current Healthy Start allowance of £8.50 per eligible household with an infant under 1 year of age is now not enough to cover the full cost of any infant formula on the market.”

    Work will be starting on phase 1 of the ambitious programme this October.... Phase 1 is expected to begin in October this year and will include a new, larger community centre, and 452 homes as well as quiet, green, play and meet-up space....   • Kingston’s proposed budget protects support for most vulnerable and sets path to greener, fairer, safer borough

    This means a council tax increase of 2.99% is proposed, along with a 2% increase in the adult social care precept to help the borough meet the financial pressures of looking after the most vulnerable adults and children, as well as the ongoing impacts of the pandemic and the current cost of living crisis.
