  • A broken toaster, calculator and teddy bear take a trip to the library…

We are delighted that our first Repair Cafe went so well, thanks to many people and organisations - our expert and versatile volunteer fixers, Kingston Library for their warm welcome, John Lewis Kingston for the seed-funding that enabled this start, Save the World Club for the loan of their Portable Appliance Tester (we are now saving up for our own), Twickenham Repair Café for their excellent advice, and Transition Town Kingston for support from the very beginning.”... Kingston’s residents are among the best recyclers in London, and we want to support projects that can empower residents to reuse things that would otherwise be thrown away.

  • Kingston Council secures further funding to support rough sleepers

We quickly moved to  ensure there was a room for everyone who needed it and our staff and support agencies ensured they were looked after and supported.... This new funding for the Rough Sleeper Initiative for 2021/2022 will allow those in need to continue to receive support and somewhere to live as we emerge from the pandemic - and that includes anyone who finds themselves new to living on the streets.... It is also vital we continue to work hard to reduce the numbers of rough sleepers from our streets still further, and this will remain a priority."

Wherever possible, we will look to further prioritise tasks that support nature conservation and biodiversity, and allocate less time to grass cutting and general garden maintenance.”... We will continue to work closely with residents and our community groups to achieve this, building on the different approaches we have been trialling over the past couple of years, including introducing relaxed mowing regimes in parks, planting biobeds to increase urban pollinators, supporting the establishment of new community orchards and piloting traditional grassland grazing.”
