  • Kingston Council launches £2m Business Restrictions Hardship Grant

    Kingston Council has already paid out £32 million of grants this year to local businesses impacted by the periods of restrictions and lockdowns.... As London has been placed in Tier 4 on 20 December, we're awaiting government confirmation of the support that would be made available to businesses but anticipate that this will be in line with the level of support for businesses required to close during the previous lockdown period.

    To ensure we can provide suitable housing to all of these groups, Councillor Andreas Kirsch, the Leader of Kingston Council, has put out a rallying cry to private landlords in Kingston.... The Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames has a long history of stepping up when there are people in need, and in recent years we have had many generous landlords let out their properties through our resettlement schemes, which recently supported Syrian refugees, and our Private Leasing Schemes, for those in housing need in the borough.

    Kingston Council has committed to providing homes for 11 families from Afghanistan who supported British efforts in the country, working in roles such as interpreters.... The borough has a long history of welcoming people from all over the world and supporting those most in need, and is very proud to be providing a safe haven for  some of the most vulnerable families fleeing the recent crisis in the country.
