Adopted Development Plan
Planning law requires that decisions on planning permission are made in line with a local area’s Development Plan, unless there are planning reasons which justify an alternative approach.
The Government’s National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) provides guidance for council’s in producing Development Plans which deliver sustainable development. They must be produced in consultation with local communities, are examined by an independent Planning Inspector and once formally adopted form the basis of decision making.
The London Plan is the Spatial Development Strategy for Greater London prepared by the Mayor of London. It forms part of the Development Plan for the borough of Kingston. The latest London Plan was formally published in March 2021, planning decisions must taken in accordance with it, unless other material considerations indicate otherwise (as set out in section 70(2) of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990).
