Memorial Benches
If you would like to have a memorial bench placed in a park or open space in memory of a loved one, you can purchase a bench with a plaque and donate it to The Royal Borough of Kingston where this will be maintained as a public bench.
Location
We can replace non-dedicated benches with a new memorial bench and we will consider requests for new locations in all our parks and open spaces.
There are restrictions on the style and the placement of a memorial bench, with some sites already having a high concentration of seating.
The following locations are currently at capacity:
- The Queens Promenade
- Canbury Gardens
It may not be possible to have your preferred location, but we will consider all requests when trying to find a suitable location. Some locations may also require approval from third parties.
Once donated and installed, the bench becomes the property of the Council and we reserve the right to remove the bench where it is deemed unsafe for use.
Cost of a bench
The total cost of a bench is £1,444.60 plus VAT.
The breakdown of the total cost includes:
- eastgate seat: £524.60 plus VAT
- plaque: £94 plus VAT
- installation (including new hard standing): £826 plus VAT
All of the benches include a plaque where you are able to add an engraved message to your loved one.
