The Mayor's Charitable Trust has been selected as the ‘Charity of the Year’ for the 2024 Uber Boat by Thames Clippers Kingston Half Marathon and 10k.

One of the most anticipated events of the year, this year’s race will be taking place on Sunday 6 October and is sponsored by Uber Boat by Thames Clippers and Russell Cooke. Runners will have the opportunity to run along some of Kingston’s treasures - starting in the Ancient Market Place and along the river Thames. It’s a fantastic day to celebrate the borough and support brilliant causes for our local communities.

All funds raised by the Mayor’s Charitable Trust will go to the Mayor’s chosen charity, Habitats & Heritage. Habitats & Heritage works to protect the natural and historic environment in south and west London. The charity currently chairs the Kingston Biodiversity Partnership, working closely with the council and other partners to conserve and create natural habitats. The organisation also offers advice and support to Kingston’s Friends of Parks groups and supports conservation workdays through Kingston’s youth volunteer programmes.

Councillor Liz Green, Mayor of the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames said:

“I am delighted that the Mayor's Charitable Trust has been chosen as the Charity of the Year for such a significant event in our borough. If you are taking part but haven’t chosen a cause to run for yet, please pick us!

“Habitats & Heritage do incredible work in order to protect and preserve the natural environment. They also support our wonderful Friends of Groups and volunteers who work tirelessly to make our borough a better place to live.

“We have five people running on behalf of the charity and a huge thank you to Surbiton Town Sports Club for sponsoring personalised T-shirts for the five Mayor's Charitable Trust runners. I encourage everyone to come along, cheer them on or even get involved to support this fantastic event!”
