Take a walk on the wild side this September…
Sustainable September returns for a second year, highlighting great local activities taking place to help protect the environment and connect people with nature.
Over 30 free council and community activities are taking place across Kingston, ranging from bat walks, planting sessions and park tidy-ups, to scything workshops, bike maintenance sessions and even a Rewilding Rangers workshop for children.
The council is shining a light on these activities to help communities to connect with nature, encouraging exploration of the borough and showcasing Kingston’s green spaces.
Councillor Ian Manders, Portfolio Holder for Climate Action and Sustainable Transport said:
“There is an event for almost everyone in Sustainable September, from talks, walks, to pulling stalks! It is a great opportunity for individuals and families to get involved, whatever their age and interests.”
During the month, we will be publishing our Biodiversity Action Plan Executive Summary and dedicated biodiversity web pages, which set out the steps that will be taken to protect and enhance the natural environment.
We will also be releasing our first Climate Action Plan report update, detailing the progress made since the approval of the plan in March 2022.
