Kingston Council celebrates Month Of Community
This June, Kingston Council is celebrating everything that makes our communities great for the Month of Community.
Kingston is stronger when we work together, and across our neighbourhoods we see the inspiring work of our communities and the contributions of many local people who make a real difference to our borough.
This month there will be lots going on to celebrate these contributions and inspire others to get involved. This includes:
- Saying a big thank you to all volunteers in our borough during National Volunteering Week (1-7 June), celebrating those who inspire us through their wide and varied contributions - including volunteering with local charities and organisations, improving our natural environment or those who have offered assistance as part of our Homes for Ukraine scheme
- Celebrating Pride Month by acknowledging the achievements, contributions and heritage of our LGBTQIA+ communities whilst continuing to work hard to improve inclusivity and eradicate prejudice and discrimination
- Raising awareness of the refugee experience and marking our commitment to becoming a City of Sanctuary during Refugee Week (19 - 25 June) - a week that has been dedicated to celebrating the contributions, work and resilience of people seeking sanctuary in our communities
- Shining a spotlight on our carers as part of Carers Week (5 - 11 June) to thank them for their hard work in our communities as we continue our renewed commitment to supporting them, outlined in our new All Ages Carers Strategy
We are grateful to everyone who gets involved with making Kingston a better place for us all to live and we want to say thank you to them for everything they have done and continue to do. Together we are indeed stronger.
You can find a list of our community events on our events page web page and volunteering opportunities across the borough on our website.
