Kingston Council appoints Interim Chief Executive

An image of Sarah Ireland, who has appointed as the Interim Chief Executive and Head of Paid Service of the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames.

Sarah Ireland has been appointed as the Interim Chief Executive and Head of Paid Service of the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames.

Sarah is currently the Executive Director, Corporate and Communities and Section 151 Officer for the Council. 

The recommendation was presented to the Council meeting on 13 December 2022 and unanimously approved.
  
Sarah will take up the interim position on 1 February 2023 following the exit of Ian Thomas who leaves Kingston in January to the City of London Corporation as Town Clerk and Chief Executive.   

Sarah said:

‘I am very excited about the opportunity to continue working with and for Kingston residents and communities if in a different capacity.’         

The recruitment for a permanent Chief Executive is underway and is expected to take 6 - 9 months.
