Chief Executive Ian Thomas CBE leaving Royal Borough of Kingston for new role
Ian Thomas CBE will be leaving Kingston Council at the end of January 2023 to take up the position of Town Clerk and Chief Executive of the City of London Corporation.
Ian has been the Chief Executive of the Royal Borough of Kingston since January 2019, during which time he has been instrumental in leading the council’s response to the pandemic as well supporting communities through the continued economic challenges.
Ian said:
“It has been a real privilege to work alongside so many dedicated and hardworking people to support the residents, businesses and communities across Kingston. I have been continually impressed by the wonderful people who work both here at the Council and for the many organisations across the borough achieving great things for the people of Kingston. Together we supported people throughout the pandemic, often leading the way in testing and vaccinating, and supporting community groups and businesses.
“I would like to thank the Councillors, staff and partners in Kingston for the opportunity to work alongside them over the past four years and know that the Royal Borough will go from strength to strength."
Leader of the Council, Andreas Kirsch, said:
“I’d like to thank Ian for his continued support and his commitment and energy in taking Kingston forward. He has supported Councillors to positively lead the way through the biggest challenges many have faced. It has been a pleasure to work with him over the past four years. Ian leaves Kingston in a strong position to face the future and I wish him every success in his new role.”
The Council will announce interim arrangements in due course before the new permanent Chief Executive is appointed in the new year.
