Kingston Council and Anavo Group become partners to deliver Dementia Care Home for Kingston
Kingston has teamed up with leading care home operator Anavo Group to run the new state-of-the-art dementia care nursing home in Surbiton.
The news comes as the council reveals that the number of Kingston residents living with dementia is expected to soar from around 1,500 currently to more than 2,100 in 2027. Anavo Group already runs ten specialist care homes across the UK providing expertise in areas such as dementia, nursing and respite care.
The new 80 room home in Browns Road Surbiton is designed to provide the highest standard of care and to support residents living with dementia to remain as independent as possible and will be the first of its kind in the borough when it opens in 2022.
Embracing the latest technology, the home will provide residents living with dementia and in need of specialist care with the best quality of life possible in an environment where they can feel truly at home.
It will include a variety of different communal areas including an on-site hairdresser, tech hub and games room and a multi-functional community space. There will also be a range of dining areas, a cafe/bistro, a gift shop and gardens.
As well as providing the highest possible quality care for residents, the new home will also provide value for money as Kingston experiences an ageing population and increasing demand for health and social care services.
Anavo Group and Kingston will work together to provide care for the ageing population and manage the increasing demand for Health and Social Care services.
Sam Foulder-Hughes and Margaret Thompson, the Council’s joint Portfolio Holders for Adult Social Care and Public Health said:
“Providing the best possible care to those residents that need it most is obviously an absolute priority for the Council and I’m delighted that Anavo Group will be working with us to make this possible through the dementia care home.
"This new home will mean we can provide residents living with dementia with the care they need and deserve.
“The number of Kingston residents living with dementia is rising significantly and it’s vital that we think differently about how we support them in years to come. This exciting new Home will mean our dementia care services are more effective and more efficient.”
Ed Moore, Director of Anavo Group said:
“We are very much looking forward to opening the new home in the Spring. Kingston Council has chosen us because of our innovative approach to care. We want residents to have a license to be themselves and agency to live as they choose.
“This is why for us it’s important to ensure that our residents not only maintain social relationships and continue to enjoy their lifelong interests but that they engage with the modern world through cutting edge technology which will help them to stay connected and take advantage of the opportunities that it offers to benefit their physical and mental health.”
