International Day of People with Disabilities - Spotlight on Kingston Association for the Blind
The International Day of People with Disabilities takes place every year and is a chance to celebrate the diversity of our communities and learn from each other.
At Kingston Council we believe that everybody deserves an equal chance in life, and we are proud of our high ambitions to be as inclusive as possible. This ambition, and all of our work to reduce inequalities, is set out in our Inclusive Kingston strategy.
This year’s theme is ‘Fighting for Rights in the post-COVID era’. To mark the day, this year taking place on 3 December, we spoke to Mariza Jurgens, the first visually impaired charity manager of Kingston Association for the Blind.
She told us about her story, and some of the experiences of people with visual impairments in Kingston.
