Sunray Community Centre
Invitation to bid to manage the Sunray Community Centre
The Council is outlining plans for the future management of the Sunray Community Centre and reconfirming its commitment to ensuring this valuable community facility can continue to be used by a wide variety of groups and residents.
Firstly, we’d like to thank the previous leaseholders Peter Day and Lucinda Walsh for their hard work, dedication, and commitment to the centre for so many years to build it to its current status as a valued Community Centre.
The current lease has now expired and there are a number of parties who have expressed an interest in taking over the management of overseeing inclusive community provision from the centre, which could open up a number of different and exciting possibilities for community use. Therefore the Council is reviewing how we can build on the existing activities and bring in new opportunities.
As the owners of the property, Kingston Council’s officers and Councillors have worked together to develop a fair and open process to enable us to evaluate bids and ensure that council community buildings are providing an inclusive facility that benefits the whole community.
Please see below the documents outlining and supporting the application process:
The application window has now closed.
To ensure continuity of the current activities and groups, the Council has asked Peter Day to have oversight of the running of the Centre as a temporary caretaker tenant for a maximum of three months while we develop the new model and consider applications for future use.
In the meantime, the centre continues to be open although it won't be taking new bookings for 2024 until the future leaseholder is in place.
