Fly tipping (dumped rubbish)
Fly tipping is illegally dumping rubbish on to land that doesn't have a licence to take it, instead of on to an authorised rubbish tip.
It can include anything from black bin bags to mattresses, sofas, fridges, old kitchens, rubble and tyres.
If you see dumped rubbish
If you see any dumped rubbish on a public road or pavement, report it to us using our online form. You don't have to register or login, but if you do we will send you an email letting you know when the fly tip has been cleared.
We remove reported fly tipped rubbish from any public road, and our Neighbourhood Rangers remove small tips when they find them. We can't remove fly tips from private land.
- Fly tips causing an obstruction to the footpath or road will be removed within four hours of being reported.
- Other fly tips are removed within 24 hours of being reported unless they require a specialist resource to remove them e.g they contain hazardous materials (such as asbestos or chemicals) or they are very large or heavy.
There's no excuse for fly tipping. If you need to dispose of rubbish that will not be taken away by our kerbside collection service, then you should take it to the Household Reuse and Recycling Centre at Villiers Road or make use of the various bulky waste and special collection services we offer.
