Kingston Liberal Synagogue Mitzvah Day 2024
Kingston Liberal Synagogue would like to invite you to join us on the afternoon of Sunday 24th November in our Mitzvah Day activity.
Mitzvah Day is a Jewish led day of social action that aims to bring together people of all faiths and of no-faith to volunteer side-by-side.
This year, as in the previous two years, we are partnering with the Kingston based charity RBKares: a group of volunteers that aims to mobilise the community to respond at pace to needs that arise within the borough of Kingston amongst hospital workers, carers, refugees, and other vulnerable groups. In particular we will again assist with their "Warmer in Winter" initiative to make up bags that will contain various items to assist those most at risk this winter due to the cost of living crisis and energy price cap rise.
The target is to pack 250 bags and to this end we will open our doors and offer our space for packing up the bags and sorting them ready for distribution. By coordinating this exercise to go along with the physical space in which to do it and inviting our neighbours at St Mary's Church, our friends at the Dialogue Society as well as the Kingston Faith & Belief Forum we hope to make it a truly community event.
This year's theme is "Stronger Together," So please join us at 2pm on Sunday 24th November when we will defy the forces that tear us apart by coming together to support a local charity and build bridges of commonality and emphasise the power of unity and collaboration.
