This Digital Skills course will give you an introduction to using computers and smartphones, helping you gain confidence to use these devices for basic tasks independently.
- What will I learn?

On this course you will cover basic digital skills for everyday life using computers and smartphones. You do not need any prior experience or skills as you will start with the very first steps. You will have plenty of chances to practise with each skill.
- Introduction to using computers
- Turning on and shutting down a computer
- Using a mouse
- Typing with a keyboard
- Connecting to the internet and WIFI
- Basic Text Formatting
- Getting confident with passwords
- Spellchecking and basic editing
- Using Emails and Email safety
- Searching for websites using browser software
- Creating online accounts
- Shopping online
- Completing forms and adding payment details
- Introduction to types of smartphones - android, apple

You must be aged 19 or over (as at 31st August 2024) and be a UK resident.
You will need a sufficient level of English to be able to follow the curriculum and complete any course work.
Please also be sure you have enough time each week to attend all classes and to complete any homework assignments outside of class.
If you live within Greater London, you will need to have the right to live in the UK for at least 12 months from the start date of the course.
If you live outside of the Greater London area, you will need to have lived in the UK for the past three years and also have the right to live in the UK for the duration of your course.
- What do I need to bring with me to class?

Please bring a pen, note paper or note book, and a folder to store any handouts.
You do not need to have your own digital devices as these will be provided for you to use while you are on the course. However, if you have your own smartphone, you may like to bring it so that you can practise with it during the classes.
