Introduction to the course

This course follows on from our Bookkeeping Level 1 qualification course.

Upon completion of the course you will gain a fully accredited AAT Level 2 Certificate in Bookkeeping.

AAT Qualifications are recognised by employers as practical and technical qualifications that prepare students for the world of work and for working specifically in accountancy and finance roles.

What will I learn?

This qualification will prepare you for junior and entry level accounting roles. You will learn finance, accountancy, business and communications skills
Accounting Level 2 Certificate AAT, offers a fantastic first step on your journey towards becoming a qualified accountant.

This qualification comprises four mandatory units:

- Introduction to Bookkeeping
- Principles of Bookkeeping Controls
- Principles of Costing
- The Business Environment

There will be a computer based exam after each of the units.

What are the entry requirements?

You must be aged 19 or over (as at 31st August 2024) and be a UK resident.

You will need to have already achieved an AAT Level 1 qualification in bookkeeping. We will ask you to show your certificate during your initial assessment.


You will also need a sufficient level of English and numeracy skills to be able to follow the curriculum and complete any course work. We will confirm this during your initial assessment.

Please also be sure you have enough time each week to attend all classes and to complete any homework assignments outside of class. You will also need a distraction-free environment from which to join your online lessons.

If you live within Greater London, you will need to have the right to live in the UK for at least 12 months from the start date of the course.

If you live outside of the Greater London area, you will need to have lived in the UK for the past three years and also have the right to live in the UK for the duration of your course.

Please be aware that AAT may charge a one-off registration fee of £66.00. This will be explained to you on the first day of your course by your teacher.

What do I need to bring with me to class?

Please bring a pen, note paper or note book, and a folder to store any handouts.

This course is delivered online, so you will need access to a computer or laptop and an internet connection. (Please note that a smartphone or tablet will not be suitable)

If you do not have the necessary IT equipment, you can still apply for the course as there may be opportunity for equipment loan depending on your personal circumstances.

What can I do after my course has finished?

You can progress onto the Book-Keeping Level 3 Certificate (AAT)
