How we make decisions

The Council also appoints a number of other Committees. These include the Development Control Committee which determines large planning applications, and the Licensing Committee which reviews policy on licensing matters. Licensing Sub-Committees consider individual applications for activities which require licences, such as the sale of alcohol.

The Health and Wellbeing Board brings together Councillors and representatives of NHS agencies and other health professionals to promote integrated working across the health and social care system within the borough. The Health Scrutiny Panel provides an opportunity for Councillors to keep all health services under review and to respond to proposals for changes in those services. 
There are also a number of Committees responsible for aspects of the Council’s internal operations including the Audit, Standards and Governance Committee which has oversight of the Council’s governance and financial arrangements and Councillor conduct.  The Pensions Fund Panel manages investment strategy in respect of the Council’s pension fund.
