Events in our borough
Kingston’s Coronation Parade
Come along and join our fun for all the family Coronation parade to celebrate the crowning of His Majesty King Charles III and her Majesty The Queen Consort. Organised by Kingston Council, All Saints Church, Kingston Music Service and the Rose Theatre, the parade will gather in the Ancient Market Place, Kingston town centre, at 2.45pm on Sunday 7 May 2023.
Drawing upon the borough’s association with previous coronations, the parade begins with a fanfare and a Town Crier who proclaims it is the year 925 and the crowning of King Athelstan in Kingston. From here a junk percussion band made up of the community takes the helm and leads the audience on a journey through the ages to the present day…
If you would like to take part in the junk percussion band please reserve a place and attend a FREE rehearsal at 1:45 pm Sunday 7 May 2023 at the Rose Theatre (just one hour before the event) Please bring something to bang, shake, scrape or hit together!
