New electric collection vehicles
This autumn you will start to see our new electric waste collection vehicles appearing across the borough. The new vehicles will be cleaner, greener and quieter, moving us closer to being a net-zero council by 2030.
Your collection days will not change, but you may notice that your recycling and rubbish is picked up at a different time of day to what you’re used to. This is because food waste will now be collected by a separate vehicle, allowing for greater efficiencies across the service.
Make sure you separate your general waste and food waste, using your caddies to recycle as much food waste as possible.
The new electric vehicles do not have small cages on the side, so textiles, batteries and small electrical items will no longer be collected by our crew. We have partnered with reuse charities, Little Lives UK and TRAID, to offer a convenient way to donate textiles, clothes and small electricals, using a free bookable home collection service. Further details of how to recycle these items are available on our website.
